Definition of WordPerfect

WordPerfect is a very popular word processor in the late 1980s and early 1990s. In fact, it was the de facto standard word processor at the time, but was overtaken by Microsoft Word.

It has versions for multiple platforms such as DOS, Windows, Mac OS, Linux, Unix, VMS, Data General, System/370, AmigaOS, Atari ST, OS/2 and NeXTSTEP.

WordPerfect was developed in the early 1980s by Satellite Software International (later renamed WordPerfect Corporation). It was sold to Novell in June 1994, and then in 1997 to Corel Corporation.
