In computing, there are basically two types of platforms:
* Hardware architecture (the architecture of a computer)
* Software framework (the operating system, user interfaces, programming language)
Examples of platforms as operating systems:
*windows
*Linux
* AmigaOS
*Solaris
*Mac OS
Examples of software platforms:
* Java – JDK and JRE
*.NET Framework
* Mozilla Prism XUL and XUL Runner
*Adobe AIR
* Bow
Examples of hardware platforms:
* RISC architecture (eg, Sun, DEC Alpha cluster, etc).
*Macintosh
* x86 (typical PCs)
