Visitor Question or Comment:
I have problems to put the at sign on my computer and I tried with Alt 64 and with shift @ and I can’t either I have to be copying and pasting all the time I hope you can give me a quick solution thank you very much
Response from ALEGSA.com.ar:
Try the following combinations to access the at symbol:
– CTRL + ALT + @
– SHIFT + @
– ALT and @ (the ALT on the right of the keyboard, sometimes called Alt Gr)
– There may also be another special key (maybe called Fn), press Fn and @.
– CTRL + ALT + Q. (the letter Q).
If none of this works, your keyboard is probably misconfigured.
If the above doesn’t work I suggest reading:
– Where to find the letter of at on the keyboard
Write the at sign using ASCII
As for the ALT + 64 to write the @, the numbers 6 and 4 should not be written with the numbers that are above the letters on the keyboard, these do NOT work. Numbers must be pressed on the so-called «numeric keypad».
If you have a desktop computer, you can activate the «Numeric Keypad» by pressing the Num Lock key (there should be a light on the keyboard). Then you can press Alt + 64 (numbers are typed on the numeric keyboard).
On the other hand, if you have a laptop, they usually do not have a numeric keyboard, but you can simulate one. How is it simulated? Well, you press a certain key and this simulated numeric keyboard is activated, and certain keys are replaced by numbers. For example, in Toshiba laptops, the letter U is replaced by 4, the letter I by 5, etc. So, in this case, if we press the U key and the I key, we write 45.
In fact if you look closely at the keyboard, you will probably see numbers on certain keys in dark gray. Those numbers can be activated in some way. In Toshiba it is by pressing the Fn and F11 keys. You’ll have to see how they activate the numeric keypad on your laptop.
Once the numeric keyboard is activated, you type ALT + 64 using the numbers on that keyboard.
