We think we know exactly what extrovert and introvert is, but the truth is, we’ve been wrong all along.
Although most people think that an introverted person is the same as shy, the truth is that introverts freely decide to withdraw from certain social situations.
On the contrary, the shy want to participate in society but cannot because they feel fear, anguish and anxiety.
So what is extrovert and introvert?
As psychologist Carl Gustav Jung described in the early 20th century, these two personality types are opposed and all human beings lean towards one or the other extreme.
Introverts live in their inner world, are more focused on their own thoughts, feelings, and moodsOn the other hand, extroverts seek external stimuli.
It is not true, either, that introverts are asocial, not at all, many are tremendously socialThey just prefer to be alone.
Other myths around this type of personality is that they are…
- SmartestA: Not necessarily. As we currently speak of different types of intelligence (linguistic, musical, mathematical, spatial, sensory, motor, emotional, social, etc.), this varies according to each case.
- bad leaders: Absolutely; 40% of leaders have this personality trait, because, as we saw, it has nothing to do with shyness and sociability.
- Are cold: On the contrary, they are very empathetic and close to their loved ones.
- they need to change to be more extroverted: Nothing is further from reality; each person is as they are, they just need to recognize themselves and know what kind of personality they have in order to get the most potential out of them.
And you, are you an introvert or an extrovert?
