Ingredients
- 5 onions cut into julienne strips
- 10ml olive oil
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- Salt
Preparation
Step 1. Cut
The first thing you should do is put all the onion together with a little salt in a pan with olive oil. Then you will have to stir slowly so that all the julienne strips are impregnated with oil and remember that you must do this over low heat for approximately 5 minutes.
Step 2. Caramelize
Once enough time has passed, it will be time to start caramelizing and we will achieve this by adding a teaspoon of baking soda over the entire onion. This ingredient will help the onion’s natural sugars and water come out faster, which will cause the onion to have a slightly yellowish color.
Step 3. Enjoy
Then you will have to keep stirring from time to time until the onion darkens as its sugars turn into caramel. After about 30 minutes you will see how the onion is perfectly caramelized and ready to eat with a delicious dish such as a hamburger or as an accompaniment to a good piece of meat or chicken.
