Tragedy for a photo! A influencer lost her life for taking a selfie on the edge of a waterfall. The young woman used to share images of exotic places in which she sometimes seemed to be in danger.
Social networks changed our lives forever and selfies are one of the new formats that they brought with them. This type of photography marked such an important milestone in popular culture that in 2014 it was named by the RAE as the word of the year. And it is that these selfies can translate into millions of dollars for influencers.
It is because of that being an influencer is already a profession and one of the most lucrative today; however, the competition is tough and to get to the top you have to go viral. That is why many people do anything to gain followers, even risking their lives.
Influencer lost her life for a selfie and these were her last photos
Unfortunately, sometimes life is lost for something as ephemeral as a selfie. That was the case for Sofia Cheung, 32who found death last Saturday, July 10, 2021 when he was out for a walk with some friends in the Ha Pak Lai natural park, in Hong Kong.
As reported by the British newspaper Daily Mail, during the walk, the girls came across a waterfall and decided to take photos from above, so they climbed to the place of the waterfall. Sofia was taking selfies when she lost her balance and fell 5 meters. She was taken to the emergency room, but she did not survive.
Sofía had accustomed her 13.5k followers on Instagram to photos of nature where she sometimes seemed to be at risk: sitting on top of a rock overlooking the abyss or hanging over the void, as in the image at the beginning of this note. Comments on her last photo, posted on July 9, were flooded with messages of condolences from her friends and followers.
