Controversy over National Anthem in Vallenato version in Colombia match

Tremendous controversy arose over the National Anthem in vallenato version which was presented before the start of the match between Colombia and Paraguay for the qualifiers.

The Colombian team is still on the tightrope in the Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifiers and that was demonstrated after the goalless draw against Paraguay. The long faces of the fans were evident in all the stands of the Metropolitan Stadium and there was little space for the usual rumba in curramba.

Just a few days ago, the networks were flooded with memes for James’s call to the Colombian National Team and now, it is the criticism that these virtual spaces have taken over. Many Internet users cannot believe that the National Anthem has been sung in a vallenato version and others say they have not even heard or understood what it said.

The public returned to the stands of the Metropolitan but their efforts and encouragement to the players were not enough to avoid the 0-0 that left the tricolor in debt. The unease for many Colombians began even before the match began because when everyone was ready to sing the hymn, they were surprised that it was not heard well and that they did not know this version.

Los Niños Vallenatos were in charge of paying homage to the musical genre par excellence of the country and to the anthem, but according to the fans, things did not go well. Inside the stadium, the criticism focused on the poor acoustics because the interpretation was not heard clearly. For those who watched the game on television, the anthem was not understandable either.

In social networks, comments could be read that questioned the decision to make a version of the anthem in vallenato:

“Hahahaha how are you going to put the vallenato version anthem in the middle of the qualifying game. They are very sad”

“Apart from the party of ColombiaParaguay It was really bad, that anthem The national Vallenato version is now more terrible than ever…”

«Yes Colombia play just like it sounded anthemthey beat us, tremendous waste, what a mess, what a sancocho Colombia v Paraguay

It should be noted that several parts of the anthem were interpreted in the Wayunaiki language, the native language of the Wayú indigenous people, natives of La Guajira, and that, perhaps, also confused the spectators.
