This is the case of a man in India, who was the patriarch of a sect that is almost 100 years old, who died in the last few hours, leaving almost forty widows and a little less than a hundred children, protected by the beliefs of this religious group.
Polygamous man who leaves 39 widows and 94 children in India has died
In this story the protagonist is Zionnghaka Chana. The 76-year-old man who lived in the state of Mizoram, northeast of India, was in charge of a sect founded by his grandfather, around the year 1930. This kind of religion has beliefs based on Christianity, but the Presbyterian church, the one with the largest number of believers in the state, rejects polygamy and the sect presided over by Chana.
Such was the fame of this man in some sectors of Asia, that around his history even tourist plans had been built for people to come to this remote area of India to learn, according to data collected by local media, what would be a of the largest registered families in the world.
Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga wrote a dismissal tweet with «the aching heart» to Chana and regret the departure of the person who moved tourism in this state: “Mizoram and its village in Baktawng Tlangnuam have become a major tourist attraction in the state, thanks to this family“.
Zionnghaka Chana was married for the first time at the age of 17 and until the time of his death, he had relationships with 39 women. As a result of these unions, at least 94 children and 33 grandchildren were born. The man died of diabetes and hypertension that he suffered from for many years.
