A friend of Vibra confesses why she does not agree with celebrating this date.
Today I will earn the hatred of many people, both women and men, but I will forgive them, because it is more important to me expose my reasons why I do not celebrate Men’s Day and I do not agree with celebrating it.
At first glance, Men’s Day seems like a logical celebration, since there is Women’s Day, but on second thought, the latter is celebrated to remind society that women have not always had the freedom they enjoy today and his rights have been acquired at the point of fighting for them.
On the other hand, the men, poor things! they alone have dominated society in almost every culture throughout human history, and they continue to do so. Why do you think that women, despite being a numerical majority, are considered a minority? It is because our rights are violated in many parts of the world.
So why celebrate a day for a being that dominates the world? For man, literally every day is Men’s Day. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate men, in fact, I love them, but I think that women should go a little beyond fashion or the pressure of the networks, and think about why certain dates are celebrated.
For me, Men’s Day is more of an effort to feel politically correct, that is, for denying with some shame that we have the right to have a special day for us (and they don’t) for the thousands of years that we had no right to decide who we married, or to own property, or to say our opinion… And I wish these horrors were only from the past, look how they subjugate many women even today, in the 21st century.
What do you think? Do you agree or disagree with celebrating Men’s Day?
