We women take over the world, but, in many cases, we continue to play the role of Zolia… Zoila who irons, Zoila who sweeps… And on top of that, she works!
Today, August 26, commemorates the day in which the Political Constitution of the United States recognized the vote for women for the first time. Until that moment women were legally inferior to men and their rights were not taken seriously.
Since then, we have fought for equal treatment, both in the personal sphere, as well as in the workplace and in the domestic sphere. However, sometimes it seems that we have been shot in the butt, because although we have the freedom to study the career we want, to work and to decide when to have children, we still have to do the housework.
And it is that we do not lie to each other, even if we earn as professionals, the money is not enough to pay for a girl to help us daily, much less a nurse to take care of the children, so we end up doing the housework with the help of our mother or mother-in-law.
After a long day at work, our nights always end with the terrible phrase of «and what are we going to eat today?» And weekends turn into a half break, literally washing clothes, ironing and tidying the floor so that during the week the house does not look so messy. Equity! poof!
And if we have children, don’t even mention it! We must add to the toilet and the kitchen, Tasks and the messing up of the innumerable extracurricular activities in which we put them in so that they could make better use of their free time… that we miss so much.
What time do we get ready? When do we have married life? In which corner of the diary do we write down the names of our friends? How long have we known what it’s like to sleep late? What equity for women?
To sample a button. Solve this survey and you will see how «equitable» the household chores are distributed… in full! Women’s Equality Day!
You see? Do you think the world is now more equitable for women?
