Flip flops or Japanese sandals for vacation
The mid-year holidays are here, and you, do you already have your summer flip-flops ready?
They are also called free fingers, since they are supported by a thin structure that fits easily between the big and second toes. We know them simply as flip flops or flip flops, but their design is inspired by the geta wooden Japanese shoes, a traditional shoe from that country.
These flip flops are perfect for hot land, the beach or the pool, as they are easy to remove, do not heat up, are waterproof (the plastic ones) and are cheap. But beware, many experts say that they are not the best walking shoes. To avoid inconvenience, please be aware of the following warnings posted by BBC:
- These sandals do not offer arch support or foot coverage, so they can lead to injuries, according to the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, USA.
- According to a study carried out by Auburn University (United States), when we use these flip-flops our steps are shorter, so our heels hit the ground irregularly, altering the natural rhythm of our walk.
- Wearing these flip flops stretches the plantar fascia causing tiredness, pain, swelling, and lumps, especially in overweight people.
- Since your foot will be exposed to the sun, you should put on sunscreen to prevent burns and reduce the risk of skin cancer.
now that you know why you shouldn’t walk all day in these flip flopstry to use them only what is necessary, when you are on the beach or in the pool, because what causes damage is their excessive use. Here we share some photos of these sandals, so that you can be inspired when buying yours!
