8 home remedies for burning burns

Lavender essential oil. This will provide immediate relief as the oil has antiseptic and analgesic properties. There are very few essential oils that reduce the risk of developing scars. Just pour a few drops on a gauze pad and apply it directly to the lesion; replace it with a new one every two to three hours, for a couple of days.

Honey. In addition to disinfecting wounds and healing burns, honey extracts fluids from the tissues, cleaning the burned area. Put honey on a gauze bandage and apply directly to the burn; change it three to four times a day for faster healing, with less pain and scarring.

Tea bags. For minor burns, a tea bag can be very beneficial. Black tea has tannic acid, which helps draw out the heat and sting of burns. Take three tea bags and put them in a cup of cold water; use the water to cover the burn area or place the cold, wet tea bags directly on the burn and wrap them with a piece of gauze.

Vinegar. With astringent and antiseptic properties, vinegar helps treat minor burns and prevent any type of infection. Dilute any type of vinegar with water, use the solution to rinse the burned area. This works as a pain reliever by covering the injured area with a cloth soaked in the mixture. Change the gauze for a new one every three hours.

onion juice. Slice a fresh onion and apply the set to the burn; this will provide some relief and reduce blistering. Repeat the process several times a day.

Sabila or Aloe Vera. Apply fresh aloe vera gel or place a piece of aloe vera on the wound. Both contain analgesic and astringent properties, so ideally treat the affected area with cool water or diluted vinegar before rubbing the cool gel on the burn.

Cold water. Run cool water over the burn for several minutes; or place cold compresses on the affected area. This will help reduce the stinging of the burn. Do not apply ice, as it restricts the flow of blood, damaging the injured tissues.

raw potato. Thanks to its anti-irritant and soothing properties, a slice of raw potato on the burn will ensure relief on the wound. Potato juice, when in contact with the skin, will relieve pain and reduce the possibility of blisters.
