11 ancient mudras to heal the body and mind

According to the ancient oriental teachings, the physical body is composed of five elements of nature: air, water, fire, earth and aakash – intercellular spaces found within the human body. The imbalance of these elements could interrupt the optimal functioning of the immune system, and therefore, cause a series of diseases.

The deficiencies of these elements can be regulated by connecting one part of the body with another through the mudras. For the Eastern worldview, when one of the fingers (which represents an element of nature) comes into contact with another, a balance of the elements is created. Consequently, the disease caused by the imbalance is cured. The mudras work through the body’s electromagnetic energy, creating a balance of the elements that constitute bodily health. In other words, joining the fingers has an effect on the human body, mainly because each finger represents the five elements:

Thumb – fire Index finger – air Middle finger – aakash
Ring finger – earth Little finger – water There are a series of mudras that allow the optimal balance of both the body and the mind-body relationship.
